Manufactured Homeowners Press Conference

Manufactured Homeowners Press Conference
Two bills this legislative session, HB 388, Mobile Home Revisions, sponsored by Representative Dunnigan, R — Taylorsville, and HB 389, Manufactured Home Owners Fair Rent Equity Act, sponsored by Representative Janice Fisher, D — West Valley, address homeowners' rights.
Dunnigan's bill allows for the creation of mobile home park residents' association, and gives residents various rights, including the right to host meetings, pass out flyers and canvass peacefully.
Fisher's bill provides for a means of due process if there is a dispute between the majority of the homeowners in a community and the park owners and operators. The bill provides homeowners with a lawful mechanism to to protest unjustified and unwarranted rent increases.
Dozens of manufactured homeowners showed up today in the Capitol rotunda in support of the two bills. Steve Anderson, president of Utah Manufactured Homeowners Action Group shared the podium with Rep. Fisher and Rep. Dunnigan, and spoke on behalf of the homeowners.
Senator Robles, D — Salt Lake County, and Representative Seelig, D — Salt Lake County, also spoke in support of the bills. Representative Seelig explained her appreciation of the homeowners, and how four parks are located in her district affecting more than 450 homes.
