Democratic Leader Aims to Lower Domestic Violence Gun Deaths

Salt Lake City - House Democratic Leader Brian King will propose HB 206 - Domestic Violence -- Weapons Restrictions to create uniformity between state and federal law dealing with restrictions on who can and cannot possess a gun after a conviction or protective order is issued.

Representative King stated, “The state needs to be able to protect people from danger. This bill puts teeth into an already existing federal law. We need to be able to enforce these laws. Domestic violence accounts for nearly one-third of all homicides in Utah. This includes children. That is unacceptable.”
