Utah Legislature To Consider Female Inmate Health Education
Salt Lake City – Representative Mark Wheatley recently made HB 412 - Inmate Education Amendments public, and will present the legislation in committee likely within the next week. The legislation creates a study that would educate female inmates on women’s health issues, including reproductive health care, and evaluate outcomes after the women are released.
Representative Wheatley said, “The purpose of rehabilitation programs in prisons is to educate and promote healthy living. If you don’t know how to care for yourself, you cannot be expected to be successful. This is a building block for their future.”
