Democrats Unite Against Immigration and Refugee Ban

Salt Lake City - House Democrats stand opposed to the recent executive order halting refugee admissions and banning people from select countries. The caucus is asking that their legislative colleagues keep in mind their own endorsement of the Utah Compact, and the promises outlined in that document.

Representative Angela Romero stated, “When we speak about immigration and refugees, we speak about cultural and economic contributions that have created the success of this state. As many Utahns can tell you, four months to a refugee means life or death. It can mean sacrifice, fear, and isolation. It can also mean a new community, new opportunities, and neighbors who care. That stark difference is lost on this President. I hope it is not lost on my colleagues, or on our Congressional delegation.”
